Health & Personal Care Lead - Liverpool

Location: Liverpool

Contract: Temporary to Permanent - Full Time
Pay: £130-£150 per day, dependent on experience

Spencer Clarke Group are working with a specialist education setting in Liverpool who are looking to appoint an experienced Health & Personal Care Lead on a full-time, temporary-to-permanent basis.
The successful candidate will lead a team of Personal Care Support Workers, ensuring students with physical, medical and complex needs receive safe, dignified and person-centred support.

This is a hands-on leadership role involving personal care, medication, health plans, complex health interventions, EHCPs and staff management. You will work closely with education staff, families and external professionals including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and healthcare teams.
This position is initially through Spencer Clarke Group with the opportunity to move onto a permanent contract with the setting.

The Role:

• 
  Lead, motivate and manage a team of Personal Care Support Workers.
• 
  Oversee safe and dignified personal care for students with complex needs.
• 
  Coordinate staff rotas, workloads and cover arrangements.
• 
  Maintain Personal Healthcare Plans, risk assessments and Medication Administration Records (MAR).
• 
  Oversee safe administration, recording and storage of medication.
• 
  Support complex health interventions including PEG feeding, cough assist, moving and handling and specialist equipment.
• 
  Ensure effective infection prevention, PPE and health & safety procedures.
• 
  Coordinate support in line with EHCPs and individual health needs.
• 
  Support students with mobility, communication and access to learning.
• 
  Monitor student wellbeing, independence and progress.
• 
  Liaise with families, curriculum teams, local authorities and health professionals.
• 
  Contribute to annual reviews, transition planning and multi-disciplinary meetings.
• 
  Ensure compliance with safeguarding, Prevent and the SEND Code of Practice.

Essential Requirements:

• 
  Level 3+ health/care qualification, such as Health & Social Care, Nursing, Clinical Support or equivalent.
• 
  Experience leading or supervising a care/support team within education, health or social care.
• 
  Experience providing personal care to individuals with complex physical or medical needs.
• 
  Experience administering and recording medication.
• 
  Knowledge of risk assessments, care plans and health-related documentation.
• 
  Experience working with EHCPs and multi-disciplinary professionals.
• 
  Moving and handling training, including specialist equipment.
• 
  Understanding of complex health interventions and emergency protocols.
• 
  Knowledge of safeguarding, Prevent and supporting vulnerable young people.
• 
  Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.

Desirable Experience:

• 
  Nursing or clinical background such as RGN, RNLD or HCA.
• 
  Experience within Further Education or specialist SEND settings.
• 
  Training in PEG feeding, suctioning, epilepsy management or other complex interventions.
• 
  Experience contributing to annual reviews and transition planning.
• 
  Experience with quality assurance or service improvement.
• 
  Knowledge of examination access arrangements.
